Not only did Jane Philpott resign, she stated that the scandal around SNC-Lavalin was a big part of her reason for doing so.
“I have been considering the events that have shaken the federal government in recent weeks and after serious reflection, I have concluded that I must resign as a member of cabinet,” the former treasury board president wrote in her letter to the PM.
Philpott said that she believes in cabinet solidarity and the need for cabinet ministers to support the whole of the government message, but after looking at the testimony laid out at committee and the evidence she has seen, she can no longer support the government on this file.
