Al Gore recently had a telling altercation with a journalist. The Spectator’s Ross Clark wanted to ask him about Miami sea-level rises suggested in the new film, “An Inconvenient Sequel.” The reporter started to explain that he had consulted Florida International University sea-level-rise expert Shimon Wdowinski. Gore’s response: “Never heard of him — is he a denier?” Then he asked the journalist, “Are you a denier?”
When Clark responded that he was sure climate change is a problem but didn’t know how big, Gore declared, “You are a denier.”

FREED AFTER 5 YEARS OF TALIBAN CAPTIVITY

An American woman, her Canadian husband, and their three young children have been released after years held captive by a group that has ties to the Taliban and is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, US and Pakistani officials said Thursday. US officials said Pakistan secured the release of Caitlan Coleman of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, and her husband, Joshua Boyle, and their 3 children.
Boyle was once married to Zaynab Khadr, the older sister of the former Guantanamo Bay detainee Omar Khadr and the daughter of a late senior Al Qaida financier.

INVESTIGATING THE DISAPPEARANCE OF $MILLIONS

The federal government is suing an Ontario company over allegations it diverted and misappropriated millions in health-care funding intended for one of Canada’s most impoverished First Nations.
The lawsuit also reveals that Health Canada repeatedly renewed its contract with the company even while it was the subject of an investigation by both the government and RCMP over concerns it was fraudulently managing funds intended for the Kashechewan First Nation.

MEXICAN SECURITY CRISIS

Since the marine-lead capture of notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman in Sinaloa back in 2016 and his subsequent extradition to the US in 2017, drug-related violence has skyrocketed in his native land.   Multiple cartels have risen up to take El Chapo’s place, and the casualties have been out of control. In the first two quarters of 2017 alone, more than 12,500 people have met their demise, either at the hands of the cartels or while caught in their cross-fire. That’s at least 2,000 dead on a monthly basis.
