With the Liberals announcing a defence review on Wednesday, former lieutenant-general Mike Day came out swinging against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “sunny ways” mantra. Day's speach was a total repudiation of the Trudeau world view: “No matter how many sunny ways we have, my experience in deploying around the world is people will want to continue to kill other people and we need to be ready for that,” said Day.
If they have courage and honour and sense of duty they must either speak out or resign their commands when it gets to the point that Government cuts prevent them from carrying out their sworn duty: adequately defending their nation and allies.
ReplyDeleteI remember what they say about honor an duty about army officers aftr Somalia and their is no change
DeleteI spent 30 years in the Canadian Army and I can tell you that the upper ranks are infested with yes men. Promotion is just a political process and has little to do with a candidate's military skills, so it is just about impossible to contemplate a Canadian General ever speaking out about the state of affairs.
