The head of the union representing Ontario’s correctional officers is calling on Corrections Minister Yasir Naqvi to resign over his “inept” handling of Ottawa’s jail.
Union boss Warren (Smokey) Thomas on Tuesday also praised the local jail’s recently dismissed superintendent, Maureen Harvey.
“It’s now quite clear that Yasir Naqvi is the problem — not the solution, for the mess at OCDC,” Thomas said in a statement.
