STIRRING UP POLLUTED SEDIMENT

The Ontario Liberal government bailed out on its plans to allow wind farms in the Great Lakes.  In 2011, then-environment minister John Wilkinson decided there wasn’t enough scientific certainty about how to build those windmills without stirring up polluted sediment on the lake bottoms. Critics allege it was a political decision, aimed at appeasing voters in marginal Liberal-held seats by the lakes.
