COMPETING FOR A SEAT AT THE USELESS UN

Canada has some catching up to do in its campaign for a UN Security Council seat, say current and former Canadian and foreign diplomats.
Its competitors for two two-year seats up for grabs on the 15-member council starting in 2021, Ireland and Norway, both announced their bids nearly a decade ago, and one third-party diplomat says Ireland so far has been “more insistent in their campaign.”
