The job report issued Monday did little to deflect criticism, with Wildrose Leader Brian Jean in question period accusing the government of having “taxed and regulated” jobs out of existence.
Jean said there are now 47,000 fewer full-time jobs compared to a year ago and noted that even the government has projected that its climate plan — including the carbon tax that comes into effect Jan. 1 — will slow economic growth by 0.05 per cent annually.
“This government has been in power more than 18 months and has overseen one of the most devastating periods of job losses in our province’s history and is totally unapologetic,” he said.
