ONTARIO WAITING FOR FED's $66M PAYMENT

Ontario is being urged to secure a formal agreement with the federal government for repayment of the $81 million and counting spent to house, educate and provide legal services to illegal border crossers.
A new report released Wednesday by Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk found the Ontario government, municipalities and Legal Aid provided $80.7 million worth of services just over a 16-month period between April 2017 and July 2018 when hundreds of refugee claimants came across the U.S. border at illegal entry points.
So far, the federal government which has responsibility for the border has paid back only $15 million and only to municipalities, Lysyk said.
