As the vote-counting in the U.S. election moves through its endgame, most Canadians are worried. Quite a few are carriers of the Trump derangement syndrome who cannot discuss the current president without reference to his real or imagined moral failings, mendacity, bellicose behaviour and racist dog whistles. Moreover, they are psychologically incapable of distinguishing between his problematic personality and his substantive policies. Thus unencumbered, they fervently hope he will soon be out of office. My advice? Be careful what you wish for. And if Joe Biden were to win, curb your enthusiasm.
