ALBERTA GOV'T VERSUS CATHOLIC CHURCH

The Supreme Court of Canada gave the provinces until June 6 to enact laws facilitating assisted death. Alberta's Catholic bishops pumped out an open letter February 11 condemning physician-assisted death as "state-sponsored killing," and thundering that Catholic doctors' "conscience rights" must be protected, allowing them to refuse to help someone commit suicide and, further, refuse to refer the patient to an agreeable doctor.
The Church is already objecting to the province’s LGBTQ guidelines for Alberta schools, including the publicly funded Catholic schools.
