Premier Jason Kenney went to Ottawa and drew the battle lines. But it’s not clear that senators or the Liberal government grasp the magnitude of the fight.
But the meaning behind Kenney’s tough statements is obvious. He’s setting boundaries that he suggests can’t be crossed without provincial retaliation.
“Don’t underestimate the premier’s strategic sense, or his knowledge of all the details,” Alberta Sen. Doug Black said after Kenney testified at a Senate committee hearing into Bill C-69, the much-reviled Impact Assessment Act for resource projects.
“And don’t underestimate his willingness to act, either.”
