CLAIM: School re-openings will lead to “thousands of new cases.”
REALITY: Pediatric experts have struggled to understand how the Ontario Science Table came up with the figure that school re-openings could cause cases to surge by 6%-11%. But given how there is general agreement that in-class transmission is slim to nil, the suspicion is that this figure means that if parents are no longer tied to supervising their kids at home on remote learning, they will be free to head to the office and elsewhere and potentially contract the virus.
This misleading figure needs to be better explained and if Ford is using kids’ education as a broader adult control measure, he needs to come clean and admit it.
