INCREDIBLE LIGHTNESS OF LIBERAL RHETORIC

It was a remarkably answer-free encounter with the parliamentary press gallery, in which one had the sense that the prime minister was trying to prove that he could smile and speak for 20 minutes without saying anything.
Questions about the government’s intent — on everything from pipelines to votes in the Commons — were met with airy replies of what the government believes. One colleague joked afterward that if the prime minister had been asked about the weather forecast, his reply would have been: “I believe in daylight.” Or sunny ways, perhaps.
