We know many in Quebec are dead set against any federal government help for Western resource-based economies but what got caught on camera in the House of Commons last week underlines the antipathy some Quebeckers have towards Alberta.
As Tom Kmiec, a Conservative MP from Alberta, delivers a “Member’s Statement” pleading for federal support for his ailing province, you can see Bloc Quebecois MP Gabriel Ste-Marie, who represents the riding of Joliette, grin at Kmiec’s concerns and then shake his head vigorously at everything Kmiec asks for in support of those in Alberta.
