NP; On Thursday night, following a Federal Court of Appeal ruling that saw the TransMountain pipeline, between British Columbia and Alberta, halted for the time being, Alberta Premier Rachel Notley took to the podium for a televised statement to Albertans.
Her message was blunt: Alberta wouldn’t absorb the costs of a carbon tax and yet not get a pipeline in return. That, of course, has always been the bargain that Notley — and her federal counterparts — have sold to Albertans. And Notley is using what leverage she has.
