LIBERALS' VACCINE DEALS REQUIRE SCRUTINY

The Liberal government has finally decided to get in line to receive a COVID-19 vaccine from a company that isn’t based in China.

On Wednesday, the feds announced they had signed an agreement with Pfizer and Moderna for millions of doses of the vaccines the U.S. based companies are currently working on.
What was not disclosed though was where in the line for those millions of doses Canada finds itself.

That’s because when Canada first signed on to securing a vaccine back in May, it put all its eggs in one basket: with China.

The feds first signed a deal with CanSino Biologics several months ago. Now, as a Postmedia report explains, that deal has stalled as Chinese officials are refusing to release a shipment that’s needed to conduct human trials here in Canada.
