VACCINE SHORTAGE DRIVES THE SCIENCE

It’s now clear Canada upped its recommended interval between the first and second doses of the two-dose COVID-19 vaccines to the longest delay of any country, solely because of our vaccine shortage.

The decision to recommend a dose interval up to four months — as opposed to the vaccine manufacturers’ recommendations of 19-21 days for the Pfizer-BioTech vaccine; 21-28 days for Moderna and 28 days to 12 weeks for AstraZeneca — was based entirely on the anticipated delivery schedule of vaccines to Canada.
