CANADIANS DESERVE BETTER FROM THE RCMP

From the start, the RCMP’s handling of the April 2020 mass shooting in Nova Scotia, which left 22 people dead, was so riddled with errors, it gives the impression of a force beset by the type of buffoonery that’s straight out of a Dudley Do-Right cartoon. Except in this case, the stakes were deadly serious.

The allegations against the RCMP Commission follows a string of questionable police decisions that have been revealed by the Mass Casualty Commission’s ongoing inquiry. The situation is made all the more tragic by the fact that many of the errors were committed when the RCMP was dealing with an active shooter. Had police done a better job of notifying the public about the danger and utilizing the tools that were available to them, there’s every reason to believe that lives could have been saved.
