YES, YOU CAN JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER

Presenting the sad story of Broadacre Farms, which, despite all the catchy phrases (economies of scale, new partnerships, risk management, sustainability, mission, etc.)  on its website.... flew like a pig.
Please dispense your much-needed advice to save further flocks from fleecing.

  1. Jeepers! You mean there are people out there stupid enough to think that anything with the word sustainable in it should be taken seriously?

    1. Amen to that. There are several words that should automatically start an alarm in your bullshit meter. Stewardship, dialoguing, and any reference to the changing environment should also put you in FOF mode.

Here's a tip: if it looks or sounds anything like a Ministry of the Environment brochure, don't touch it with a 10 footer.

  2. Did you notice the reference to "extreme weather in june"? Why, they are obviously the unwitting victims of climate change. A federal grant is in order to offset the damage done to this stellar enterprise by the evil tarsands.
And what a surprise that the taxpayer backed FCC is part of this fiasco.
When the numbers get this big they usually have a hand in it.

    1. I think this is just a warmup act for the real FCC disaster that is coming soon and all the big banks will get caught to when land prices crash.

  3. Aw shucks. They almost made it to that exhalted "too big to fail" status.

  4. After reading the "story of Broadacre Farms" I don't think they missed using a single catch phrase to describe the planned operation.
What could go wrong when you use all the right words? Bankers and loan officers at FCC love that sorta talk...and can't hand over the money fast enough.
There is a certain mindset out in farm country by the heavily indebted that they are untouchable that their debt hole is so deep....and they kinda snicker that "what are they gonna do put us out of business and lose the invested money? That the debt will all be forgiven someday..."

    1. You're absolutely right. I've heard farmers say that out loud. They've intentionally overextended themselves with FCC because taxpayer suckers are ultimately backing (and will forgive) their inevitable default. Drives me crazy!
