WHO'DA THUNK IT?

And ye shall find the truth...far below the headline.
In Manitoba, the biggest provincial exporter of young pigs to the U.S...the provincial NDP government has since 2011 allowed expansion or replacement of hog barns only under environmental conditions that the industry complains are the strictest in the world....With attractive hog prices and cheap feed grain, hog farmers have reason to expand. But they cannot do so in Manitoba without spending about $1 million on equipment to treat pig waste.

  2. I bet the Manitoba farm organizations fought tooth and nail against this. Just like there Ontario cousins fought for us Niagara grape growers.

  3. I can't believe Manitoba's regulations would be any more restrictive than ours here in Ontario.

  4. Don't forget the other part of the article that indicates Canadians won't work in animal processing plants. Why work when you can live well on the dole?
