The battle between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford over their dueling climate change policies demonstrates how the federal government has lost the plot on addressing man-made climate change.
How what was supposed to be the most important environmental initiative of our lifetime has descended into a pointless, partisan squabble, with the federal Liberals taking on Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives.
In simple terms, Trudeau has rejected Ontario’s climate change plan, even though it commits the province to lowering emissions in Ontario to the levels Trudeau agreed to for all of Canada when he signed the Paris accord in 2015 — 17% below 2005 emissions by 2020, 30% by 2030.
