Rex Murphy: Sometime over the past few days, one of Justin Trudeau’s cabinet stand-ins, one who, like Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland and the prime minister himself, is now fully in prep mode waiting to build “a different and new Green Canada,” loosed this prose-poem, a mini-ode to Alberta identity, in his Twitter feed:
Alberta is hydrogen.
Alberta is batteries.
Alberta is carbon capture technology.
Alberta is geothermal energy.
Alberta is electric vehicles.
— Seamus O’Regan
It is a puzzle to the mind how anyone who has ever visited Alberta, and a full wonderment to the very fine people who live and work in Alberta, how a Minister of (un)Natural Resources could come up with such a spavined, eccentric tabulation of what he regards as the five crucial identifiers of the great suffering province of Alberta.
