The Court of Queen’s Bench reserved its decision Friday in a court challenge seeking to quash the UCP government’s inquiry into alleged foreign-funded campaigns targeting Alberta’s energy sector.
Justice Karen Horner said she hopes to issue a “timely” ruling prior to the May 31 deadline set for inquiry commissioner Steve Allan to submit a report of his findings to the government.
Horner heard arguments throughout the course of the two-day virtual hearing from environmental law firm Ecojustice, which sued the government in November 2019 to challenge the inquiry’s legality, as well as from representatives of the province and Allan.
