ReplyDeleteThere's another, less visible form of gov't intervention that also contributes and wasn't mentioned. Here's the growth of M1 supply of CAD (http://dollardaze.org/blog/posts/2007/May/29/1/CanadaM1MoneySupply.gif). There's no way to stop real inflation when you print money like that. The young, the old and the poor are typically the hardest hit.
