British Columbia’s economy and workers benefit greatly from mining...
but
...uncertainty over which areas will be protected and unstable environmental regulations were also found to be factors deterring investment. Arbitrary removal of land from mining after significant mineral discoveries, lack of stability in environmental regulations, and the expropriation of legally obtained mineral claims all served to repel investment in the province.
Is it me, or are bureaucrats and politicians always the root of the problem?
So while everybody is waving eagle feathers over burning weeds and trying to decide how many millions of acres are needed to "heal" things, mining companies are crossing BC off their lists. Imagine that!
ReplyDeleteSo far Alberta has dodged a lot of the Environmental BS and Indian problems that have tied up BC. A lot of our Blackfoot Indians work in ranching and mining and the oilpatch so they have a really different attitude. Suzuki used to jet over in his carbon-neutral great silver bird and try to stir things up but they picked him out for what he really is pretty quick.
ReplyDeleteThat is simply not true. David Suzuki is admired and respected by Indigenous people all over the world. He has been selfless in his promoting of First Nations cultures and land claims.
DeleteThe only thing your hero promotes is himself. He uses dummies, and it doesn't matter if they're brown, white, or red dummies. You're one of them.
