DON'T CRY FOR MI PESO ARGENTINA

Argentina's farmers are widely seen as hoarding their harvests as a hedge against inflation, with crops offering dollar-denominated security against peso depreciation.
"Some producers will say there is nothing, and when driving through the heart of soybean country, there are very few silo bags therefore validating this theory," the bureau said.
How do you hide your soybean harvest from the government?

  1. So you're an Argie farmer. You work hard and have some money in chequing and some retirement funds in a private pension fund. 2002, they freeze your bank funds. You watch that money lose it's buying power as your currency inflates. 2006-2014, you suffer under grain export taxes and export quotas. 2008, your government confiscates $30B in private pensions, including a goodly chunk of your savings. 2014, if there's a way to hide anything of value from these rapacious bastards, you'll find it or die trying.

    1. Good comment Pepsi G. I did a little more digging and found this article that pretty much sums up the effects of intervention / interference into Argentina's (or any other) free markets. [http://www.economist.com/blogs/americasview/2014/01/argentinas-wheat-exports]. Tax or restrict a productive industry and you'll kill it as surely as a malignant cancer kills our healthy and productive loved ones. Both diseases seem to persist despite the valiant efforts by many brave souls to fight against them.

  3. Looks like they're puttin' the beans in AgBags. That can't end well, given the issues of rats and other animals and the spoilage that results.
