In Ontario, the policing of farm-animal welfare relies heavily on complaints by whistle blowers.
Bill 156 will punish whistle blowers by making it a crime for people to investigate animal cruelty on farms, in slaughterhouses and on transport trucks, with finds of up to $25,000. In essence, if Bill 156 passes, it will become a crime to reveal the truth.
Whistle blowers should be applauded, not punished.
