The Canadian Landowner Alliance advocates for provincial legislation that recognizes property rights, and, that the Federal Government of Canada enshrines property rights in the Charter of Rights and freedoms.
I don't think that the average Ontario voter who routinely shops in the US and flies out of US airports has the capacity to ask himself "why are things like this?"
My wife and I just got back last night from a week of house-hunting in Saskabush. We put an offer on a bungalow outside of Esterhazy with a separate garage that I can use for a shop. Not a lot of homes have garages I'd say prices are about the same as here arond K-W. We will be 200 km north of the US border and I'm not sure what towns or cities are close to the line in ND. It will be interesting to see if there is border hop and shop going on there.
