AS IT IS IN CANADA, SO SHALL IT BE ALL OVER THE "FREE" WORLD...

"But every single day, special interests convince the government to use its power to take opportunity away from those with fewer resources and less power, in order to enrich themselves more. They lobby to limit the entrepreneur’s ability to start a business, prohibit families from getting their kids a good education, silence voters and activists, and deny property owners the right to keep what rightfully belongs to them."
And...
It is time for the left and right to come together and end this assault on the vulnerable.

Sorry Christina, everyone has more important stuff to do.  Count the "superbowls" on the left side to get some sense of the public's (and our media's)priorities.

Man! If I could only get up off this couch, I wouldn't take that sitting down!

    1. Call it what you want, bread and circuses, or beer and games, but it all boils down to the most base form of ignorance:ordinary people failing to understand that constant vigilance and individual input is required to maintain healthy societies.

  2. Kind of a dark and gloomy way of looking at things tj230, but I find it hard to disagree. This silence on things that count really bothers me.

  3. Folks used to fear that the "desensitization" effect of violence on TV and theatre would create a generation of adults who could witness gory death and destruction without experiencing any adverse reaction. Well, we now have a society that can witness daily on TV and in the news (when it's reported), the corruption of government, misappropriation of private property, abuse of power, crony capitalism, on and on, and think "Aw geeze, another scandal. Booorrrrinnnggg. What else is on?" Click. Then go out and vote for the same bastards again. Desensitization? I don't know what the hell to call it.

There certainly has been "desensitization", but I attribute it to the dumbing down of the individual by parents and society's institutions. Here's my theory. A hundred years Afghan Hounds and Irish Setters used to be useful, capable hunting dogs. Nowadays, after generations of inbreeding and years of prancing around show rings instead of working in the fields, they are brainless idiots. This is exactly what has happened to children in western society over the past 60-odd years.
