CALL THE WORLD HEALTH ORG.! A TERRIBLE VIRUS STALKS PARLIAMENT HILL!

"...federal government employees are absent an average of 18.2 days per year [11.5 days were paid]...the government spends $871-million every year so that 19,000 public servants can stay home on any given day."

Maybe it's all the germs they're exposed to during annual holidays and stats...

Or, it could be be a morale issue, you know, crappy wages and benefits...
"Ottawa’s average cost of employing a full-time worker, including wages and benefits, doubled between 2002/03 and 2012/13 from $66,500 to $127,400."

Because it just can't be the long, grueling hours....

  1. Jeepers! And here I am, grossing $54K in 2013, working 40 to 60 hours a week, with no benefits and taking one week of vacation, and I thought I was doing good. Any advice on how I can land one of those $127,000 per year government jobs?

  2. We all would want a government job or a high paying job but remember all civil servant employees are paid by the tax payers money. The more we pay these high salaries the more taxes we will have to pay through our pay checks, provincial taxes such as HST, municipal taxes through property taxes etc... This is why Canadians are struggling so much and do not forget all workers also support people on social assistance. It 's a thought of concern when we look at this scenario, that on an average 25% of the people are retired, 25% are our children are under the working age, 25% are split amongst people on ODSP (Ontario disability), Social Services (Welfare programs etc.), which means that 75% of the people are supported by 25% of the working class, it's no wonder why we pay so much in taxes.

  3. "It's no wonder we pay so much in taxes".....and no wonder that we are outnumbered at the ballot boxes!

  4. There is a pretty clear message here for all of us. Hold on to whatever you can - because those who don't work or don't have real work have more political clout on election day than we do. And our selfish live for the moment politicians can be relied upon to take everything we have and give it away to all the non-contributors if it means re-election.

    1. Work for as much cash under the table as you can and change it into silver or gold and bury it.
