THE NEW AND IMPROVED PPS

CFFO reactions to Ontario’s Updated Provincial Policy Statement

At long last, the Ontario government has released the new Provincial Policy Statement...
The CFFO is pleased...
The CFFO is disappointed...
The CFFO looks forward to ensuring that the new policies are ones that are workable for agriculture...
Life as a puppet on a string must be a real bitch, eh?

  1. But surely the CFFO is a stakeholder in the process and their input would have shaped the PPS. Oh yeah, I forgot, they're only used by the government to legitimatize the process. So rural Ontarians will be screwed again with the blessing of the farm organizations.

  2. Here is the comment I left...it probably won't get by the CFFO blog moderator:

"There are several areas of enhanced environmental protection that may or may not be an issue in different areas of the province."

That's a classic. Can you give me just one example of a land-use restriction on private land, purportedly for environmental purposes, that resulted in a long-term benefit for the landowner?
