"A new anti-union group has sprung up just as the Progressive Conservatives threaten to make labour issues a key ballot question in the next election...
Working Canadians wants to raise awareness about the influence of “union bosses” on the province."
...in a vast desert of stupidity
From the Working Canadians website article "the cosy relationship between unions and Ontario's Liberal government"....let me fix that to read "the cosy relationship between the Teacher's Union and Ontario's Liberal government" Did everyone enjoy the holiday "Family Day" on Monday? MacGuinty's very first pay-back to the Teachers Union in the 1st election he won with their support....a winter, long weekend.
ReplyDeleteAnd like pigs to the trough....they are back squealing for more! more! more!
Squealing works. My wife talked to a young teacher yesterday who is in her 4th year of teaching and has no hope of securing a permanent spot at anytime in the near future, Most available teaching hours are filled by retired double-dippers. The union is top heavy with older piggies who take care of themselves as the contracts come up for renewal. The only solution would be for the younger teachers to break away and form their own union, and that isn't likely to happen.
DeleteThere's more trouble yet Kodiacmac. The inside scoop I've heard is that many of these young teachers have a huge sense of entitlement (surprise?) which pervades their work ethic when they are give an opportunity. ie: "No, that's my prep time - I'm not doing yard duty"...Principal: "Why did you leave those kids alone, unsupervised in the classroom?" Young teacher: "The bell rang and my job was done"... you know, lots of "I'm not paid to do that" kinda stuff. The future is bleak.
