My wife is always teasing me about my pot-smoking days. I used to try to make maple syrup in a pot on the stove and it would take so long to boil down that I'd invariably fall asleep waiting for it to be ready to take off the heat. The smell of sugar burning in the pot would finally wake me and we'd have to throw the pot out. I figure "toke" must be Quebecois slang for "nodding-off" when we're talking about pot-smoking...
