Ont. ag minister seeks ‘move away’ from wide neonic use
Grain Farmers of Ontario chairman Henry van Ankum said Monday the association is “extremely disappointed” to learn through the media — specifically, an article Sunday on the Globe and Mail’s website by reporter Eric Atkins — of incoming Agriculture Minister Jeff Leal’s plans, which may include a licensing system for future use of such products.
“The effort and leadership grain farmers have demonstrated on this issue has been second to none, and to have this discounted with such a rash move and announcement through media, is frankly insulting,”
Meanwhile, over at OFA headquarters...
We welcome the return of an integrated ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, led by Jeff Leal. Premier Wynne’s stint as Minister of Agriculture and Food helped boost the profile of the agri-food sector, and we’ll continue to push the potential with Minister Leal. We look forward to working closely with him to help champion our issues with other ministries, particularly Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure.
Now, now Henry. Don't act too insulted. Or you'll have to get down on your knees again at the saltlick.
ReplyDeleteWell colour me pink and baby blue!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sterling performance. They're either pulling a pout or sucking around for a popsicle. Oscars all around for Child Actor of the Year.
If Henry's insulted now, wait till the money in the "Risk Management" program the province has promised gets pulled. He'll shit himself when that happens. Jeff Leal is a rat who had a key role in the implementation of the Clean Water Act in Ontario. The farm groups in Ontario have gotten themselves a real arsehole this time .....just what they deserve.
ReplyDeleteThis is the same Jeff Leal who toured the province lying through his teeth that the Clean Water Act's stewardship program was in place to compensate landowners for loss of land use because of the legislation.
ReplyDeleteBut the lies satisfied the OFA brass and membership back then, and his new lies will work now.
