ONTARIO GREENBELT EXPANSION
Expanding Ontario’s Greenbelt by one million acres attracted a lot of
attention when the idea was proposed by a group of municipal leaders this past
June. The announcement was made by the Municipal Leaders for the Greenbelt in
the lead up to the fall municipal election, and is widely expected to become an
election issue.

"reduction in red tape required to grow the Greenbelt"
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is that? Facilitating the expansion of overt state control over private property which increases the severity of restrictions upon traditional property rights and personal liberties? Let's just mention that in passing, eh Mark and Neil? Ye brave defenders of the farmers.
"...For OFA, one thing is very clear – that no expansion of the Greenbelt can take place until a comprehensive review is complete..."
ReplyDeleteQuite a statement. Designed to sound tough, but it is totally meaningless. Of course there will be a "comprehensive review - that's already been written and it's just waiting for the OFA stamp.
A farm organization that was truly representing its membership would have said: "...For OFA, one thing is very clear – that no expansion of the Greenbelt can take place until we are completely satisfied that the proposed expansion will have no negative impact on farmers."
However, everyone knows that farmers will accept things as they are....
you are right for sure. The OFA and the CFFO and NFU will nod there heads like theyre trained. If they don't do it they don't get a treat just like a dog who dosnt sit up and beg. maybe roll over and play dead?
DeleteThey know how to roll over and play dead for sure Hughie. They've also mastered arsehole sniffing...just seems to come naturally to these folks.
DeleteThe OFA has had hundreds of opportunities to defend farmers' land rights for decades. They've failed every time because they have no interest in defending property rights for farmers. "Working with government" offers much more opportunity for OFA wankers to feel like power brokers and sit in on meaningless meetings with free lunches.
DeleteOntario farmers have put up with this kind of representatives for over 20 years so that pretty well says it all.
