MALTHUS LIVES!!

Once upon a time, there was a lad named Tommy Bobby Malthus who wrote:
That the increase of population is necessarily limited by the means of subsistence,
That population does invariably increase when the means of subsistence increase, and,
That the superior power of population is repressed, and the actual population kept equal to the means of subsistence, by misery and vice.
Fast forward from 1798 to 2014:
“We know that we are facing immense challenges,” the ministers wrote. “We regard the eradication of hunger and malnutrition, and the realization of the human right to food, as one of the greatest goals in the world.”
It seems, at least, these Illinois farmers haven't missed too many meals...

  1. And if somebody else has to starve so that they can grow corn for ethanol.....so be it!

    1. Hey rmac. Are you insinuating that the pro-ethanol farm lobby has ulterior motives disguised as domestic green renewables to displace foreign dirty oil? Are you saying this is just about "I need me a new shiny tractor and another section of land"?

    2. Anybody counting on propane is gonna freeze first before they starve thanks to corn production and the burning of that fuel to dry wet corn down.
The polar vortex is baaaaaaaaaaaack in the midwest and propane prices shot up 20 cents a litre overnight a few days ago.
Waiting....waiting...waiting....for the Ontario Liberals to realize that unless somebody is banging the propane guy Granny is gonna freeze.

It's not just about more land and a new tractor.....it's about the trips to LasVegas too.

Jeepers, I'm waiting for Hudak to realize it. When did he die? Any "conservative" voices out there to raise a fuss? Hillier?

  2. "...Eradicating hunger and malnutrition will require “deeper” national and international cooperation, according to the statement. Government, civil society, companies and academia will need to share responsibility to achieve that goal, the ministers wrote. .."

Let me fix and finish that sentence for ya.

...the ministers read, from a text co-authored by George Soros, Al Gore, and David Suzuki.

    1. To further your point Kodiac, the statement is all about "government fixes" because isn't that what modern government is all about? Remember when people used to understand that a free market is an auto-correcting regulator and works for free?

  3. Wait till the Greenie guts ate making those empty rumbling sounds. I'll be able to say "hey, be happy, the empty trucks are all running on ethanol!"
